She needs to marry to keep her hotel... but she's not expecting to lose her heart.

California, 1860. Sarah Foster didn’t think things could get any worse after her father died, leaving her to run their hotel alone—until his will revealed a shocking stipulation. She has sixty days to marry, or lose the hotel, but her father’s selected suitor is the cruelest man she’s ever known. Sarah scrambles to find a different groom, and begrudgingly places an ad for a mail-order husband. But no one responds—and time is running out.

Elijah Montgomery can’t believe his great aunt wants to sell their New York apartment and travel across the country so he can run a hotel again—an arrangement that also requires him to marry the hotel’s owner. But his aunt never takes no for an answer, and Elijah soon finds himself on a journey that will alter all that’s familiar—with unexpected consequences.

As Elijah and Sarah adjust to life as newlywed strangers, unrest that’s been brewing towards the local native tribe reaches boiling point. As they each wrestle with the impact of the horrific massacre, Elijah’s unwavering faith challenges Sarah to question her rejection of God.

But when further injustices come to light, will they find the strength to hold on to hope—or lose it all?

Hope has a long view. Hope looks upon things, not as they are at present, but at what they might become as we seek and petition God to do what only He can do.

- Deborah

Good read! Really enjoyed it, and learning a tiny bit about another Indian tribe.
- Becky
I appreciated that the author wanted to bring awareness to a terrible injustice that happened. The way that she incorporated faith and prayer into it made it a worthwhile read. The relationship between the main characters was sweet. And that last chapter? So sweet. Elijah is such a great MMC. Overall, recommended for those who enjoy western historical Christian romance with tragedy but ultimately points readers back to Jesus.
- Jud

This thought provoking book was full of sweetness and unexpected drama woven with God’s truth and faith. Very well written.
- D. G.
What an horrendous historical event! Sadly and tragically there have been too many throughout history. What I love is that the author points to the God of justice and hope, Jesus Christ, in Whom we can trust. Our hope is in Him who sees, who knows. People only think they get away with things. It is a sobering thought that in 165 years hate is still rampant and leading to violence. 'Come Lord Jesus, come! '.
- Melody

This was a beautiful story of faith despite horrific historical events. I love how Edwina wove faith throughout the story, and addresses some hard questions.
