Restoring Miss Hastings by Edwina Kiernan is an eloquently written historical romance that had me pleasantly lost, roaming for days on an English estate surrounded by lush gardens. I was intrigued by the hushed, personal conversations between characters of differing economic standings that are reminiscent of the classic works of Jane Austen. Kiernan’s character development is deep and detailed, adding interest to the plot. Her astute knowledge of historic societal class etiquette is astounding. It is a subtle but powerfully written tale. I am also impressed with her ability to intricately examine such relationships in Victorian England, albeit with a Christian outlook. I found the cast of characters fleshed out, and the setting so vividly rendered that on a spring day, I could envision myself picnicking just outside the summer house, in the flowering gardens. Will you join in this indulgence?
This was another well-written and inspiring novel by author Edwina Kiernan. I love the inspirational messages that I can count on from this author and this book focused much on forgiveness and reliance on God’s presence with us.

Fantastic Historical Christian fiction. The story was believable and the characters were heartwarming.
The main characters felt real and believable. They each had their struggles to overcome, and the resolution of those challenges was satisfying. This is a well-written story. It’s a sweet, Christian romance with themes of grace, redemption, and love.
If you want sweet, clean romance, this a lovely read.
I am so blessed to have found Edwina Kiernan. Her books are just fabulous. I have just read Beryl's Blessing and now I have just bought two more even though I have about 500 books to read. Her books are beautifully written of love and redemption and I have to say her words have helped me in my walk with God, she is a Christian author with a heart for God that shines through her wonderful books. You will be glad you chose to read Edwina Kiernan's books I have nothing but praise.
This love story was full of delicious quotables! The sort of sentences and sentiments that I will treasure as sustaining ideas for years to come! I loved that the twists in the story were lessons and somewhat predictable -as they did not come as jarring shock to the storyline. The happy ending is always my favourite thing about a good book. This was thus truly a good book!
Highly recommend this book alone and as part of the trilogy it was written for! Beautiful, engaging writing! Loved it. Thanks.
