Pearl's Promise

Image
A duty-bound heir. A dejected spinster. An encounter that could ruin both their families' demands for their futures...

Pearl Acton’s worst fears are coming true. She’ll be trapped in a loveless marriage—just like her parents—as her family seeks to quickly marry her off to the wealthy Mr. Clarence. Until an encounter with a quiet and soulful heir sparks a fragile hope that somehow Pearl might aid her family and marry for love.

Nicholas Dalton has always been a disappointment to his father, with his poetic soul and disorganised nature. In London for the season, Nicholas finds an instant connection with Pearl, but it would seem her future is promised to another. Or might she feel the same as he?

As Pearl and Nicholas each strive to uphold their family duties, they soon discover that things aren’t quite what they seem. But is it too late to escape their crushing obligations and forge a new path — together?

Pearl's Promise

What People Are Saying

This beautiful and wholesome story gives a new definition to the term slow-burn romance! Although there’s not any spice, the pureness of Pearl's and Nicholas’ characters is what kept me intrigued. Reading Nicholas’ poem to Pearl made me swoon and wonder where I could find a man like him. Edwina Kiernan’s Pearl’s Promise put a lot into perspective, especially the way parents pin their hopes and dreams on their children with no regard for what they want. Both characters come from a difficult parent-child relationship and try their best to help their families where they can. We see how both characters rise above their current circumstances and grow. This also teaches us an important life lesson that behind all the glitz and glamor one can be faced with difficult situations and tough decisions.
Readers' Favorite 5-star Review
Kiernan excels at world-building and character creation. Any lover of Jane Austen will delight in the turns of phrase and the personalities and behaviors of those who people this book. Those things made me smile over and over. But that’s really not enough to make a good book, is it? So Kiernan takes those abilities and goes a step further, to make those interesting characters some that we care deeply about and places them in several difficult and challenging situations. And then! For readers who enjoy inspirational novels, we get to see the Christian faith lived out in ways that are both realistic and sometimes beautiful. And those things make Pearl’s Promise a delight for its readers.

This book really spoke to me. This is a inspiring and deep feeling book. Wonderfully written and engaging all the way through. Just wow!

I am absolutely charmed by Kiernan's ability to create a Regency novel, with all its (to quote a Sense & Sensibility character) "diversions." Yet what makes Kiernan's Regency book so different is that some of her characters really do possess a faith in God, and that faith is expressed through their choices and outlook. Even when events may fight against them, they realistically walk out that faith in believable and beautiful ways.

What a beautiful story of love overcoming evil and I loved that they both turned fully to the Lord and sought His guidance.
